A Special Session is a focused set of papers organized around a clearly defined scientific, technological or application-oriented topic. It is coordinated by designated organizers who help attract high-quality submissions and support the development of a coherent technical session.

Special Sessions are intended to highlight fast-moving research directions, emerging industrial challenges, interdisciplinary themes and communities that are not fully captured by a single Regular Track.

Special Session proposals may address any topic within the scientific scope of IEEE ISIE 2027, including energy conversion, massive electrification, smart grids, renewable energy, power electronics, electrical machines, industrial AI, robotics, sensing, cyber-physical systems, factory automation, resilience, cybersecurity, standards and sustainable industrial technologies.

Proposals are especially encouraged when they connect industrial electronics with the energy transition, the intelligent digital transition, resilient infrastructures, human-centered industrial systems or emerging industrial applications.

Required Proposal Elements

• Special Session title.
• Names, affiliations and email addresses of the Principal Organizer and up to two Co-Organizers.
• A description of approximately 200 words presenting the theme, scope, motivation and scientific relevance of the proposed session.
• A list of 5–10 topics of interest.
• A preliminary list of 6–10 potential authors, including their affiliations and email addresses.
• A list of 10–20 proposed reviewers, including their affiliations and email addresses.
• Confirmation that each organizer or co-organizer is involved in no more than two ISIE 2027 Special Session proposals.

Special Session proposals will be reviewed by the conference leadership in coordination with the relevant technical committees and chairs. Proposals will be evaluated according to their scientific relevance, clarity of scope, originality, expected impact, fit with the IEEE ISIE 2027 scope and ability to attract high-quality submissions.

Accepted Special Sessions will be integrated into the conference technical program. Papers submitted to Special Sessions will undergo the same peer-review and publication requirements as regular papers.

Special Session organizers are expected to actively promote the session, invite and encourage high-quality submissions, support the review process in coordination with the Technical Program Chairs and Track Co-Chairs, and help ensure the scientific coherence of the final session.

Organizers should also be available to chair or co-chair the session during the conference. In exceptional circumstances, alternative Session Chairs may be appointed if organizers are unable to attend.

Each successful Special Session will be awarded one complimentary conference registration.

A Special Session will be considered successful if it meets all the following conditions:

• It includes at least six registered papers.
• The registered papers represent at least three different countries.
• At least 60% of the registered papers are not authored or co-authored by any of the Special Session organizers or co-organizers.
