Scope and Motivation

In recent years, wireless power transfer (WPT) for electric vehicles (EVs) has emerged as a prominent research area, driven by prospective benefits including improved user convenience, compatibility with autonomous driving paradigms, and the feasibility of in-motion charging. WPT solutions for EV applications are commonly categorized into static, dynamic, and semi-dynamic configurations, each addressing distinct operational requirements and use cases, ranging from stationary charging in parking facilities to power transfer during vehicle motion via dedicated roadway infrastructure. Despite its potential role as a key enabling technology for transportation electrification, multiple scientific and engineering challenges remain unaddressed, including coil and power converter design, control methodologies, compensation network topologies, cost minimization, safety assurance, and interoperability across vehicles and infrastructure provided by different manufacturers.

This Special Session seeks to consolidate recent advances and original contributions on static, dynamic, and semi-dynamic WPT systems for EVs, and to stimulate technical exchange between academic and industrial stakeholders in the power electronics, control, and e-mobility communities. The session is particularly relevant to power electronics, electric drives, and control technologies for sustainable mobility. Submissions are invited on topics including, but not limited to, WPT and dynamic WPT (DWPT) applications, system design, control strategies, compensation network modeling and analysis, interoperability and standardization, safety, and system-level optimization.
